A study on analysis of Folk Remedies in Oriental Medicine

Abstract
The purpose of this study is to evaluate wide-spread information on folk remedies from oriental medicine¡¯s perspective to suggest a folk remedial model and come to a conclusion on right utilization of oriental medicine in applying folk remedies.
1. In analysing cases of applying folk remedies to disease, it was shown that many symptoms exist in one disease and materials used were in line with oriental medicine remedies. Therefore more effective cure can be expected from oriental medicine remedies (which are symptoms-and herb-centered) than western medical remedies (which are disease-and efficacy analysis-centered).
2. In conclusion, utilization of folk remedies can be applied as follows,
1) When there are folk remedy materials in proscribed medication ;
If treated according to proscribed medication, there in no need for further folk remedies but if not folk remedies can be used instead.
2) When there are no folk remedy materials in proscribed medication ;
This case allows usage of folk remedies in conjunction with proscribed medication, if they prove to be compatible in both cure methodology and material contents. Also, since it has more medical qualities that food, it will prove to be satisfactory in both healing and nursing perspective.
3) Folk remedies using diet ;
When used with proscribed medication, it will prove to be highly effective if compatible in both cure methodology and material contents. If used alone, it has been shown to be a good nursing factor.
